Money, Money, Money, Money

Warning, this is a hot topic!

Guess what percentage of people who claim to be "committed Christians" give to their church? It's amazing!

Barna Research, the respected "Christian" research firm shows that statistically, less than 10% of Christians support their church financially?

Quote: Less than half of the people who describe themselves as Christian also described themselves as "absolutely committed to the Christian faith." Less than one out of every ten regular attenders of Christian churches give 10% or more of their income - a "tithe" - to their church.

Is that weird, wrong, backwards...or is it just me?

Here's another quote from Barna: "Barna suggested that many Americans may have fallen in love with faith rather than the object of their faith. "It's much less demanding to be devoted to the idea of faith than to invest yourself in a true relationship with the living God. The data raise the question of just what people have become infatuated with: the idea of being a person of faith or the reality of having an intimate, growing relationship with Jesus Christ."

Actions speak louder than words. That's something you can take to the bank....it is always true.....so.....What do you think is going on?

Tithing is an act of faith and worship. How many times in the Bible does God mention about putting idols before him. I think when people don’t tithe the true 10% of everything that is given to them, then one must suspect that money has become more of an idol than people are willing to see or admit. Yes, tithes are used for practical purposes of maintaining the church, but the church also gives of itself by supporting missionaries and other projects around the world. It has often been said that you cannot out give God. I have found this to be so very true in my own personal life. Do people not tithe because they are tight-fisted, or, despite claiming to be true believing Christians have they not truly read their Bibles to see what the Lord says about tithing? Malachi 3:8-12 clearly declares the truth, “’8…You have cheated me out of the tithes and offerings due me. 9 You are under a curse, for your whole nation has been cheating me. 10 Bring all the tithes into the storehouse so that there will be enough food in my Temple. If you so,’ says the LORD of Heaven’s Armies, ‘I will open the windows of heaven for you. I will pour out a blessing so great you won’t have enough room to take it in! Try it! Put me to the test! 11 Your crops will be abundant, for I will guard them from insects and disease. Your grapes will not fall from the vine before they are ripe,’ says the LORD of Heaven’s Armies. 12 ‘Then all nations will call you blessed, for your land will be such a delight,’ says the LORD of Heaven’s Armies.”
How can anyone argue with this? Yes, do put God to the test and see how richly He will bless your life!
